In today’s world CO2 has been turned into a monster that everybody has to fight against..... It is the monster that is changing our climate...causing ice-caps to melt and changing the weather patterns all around the world….. Well that is what we are all made to believe by the world media......and everybody is starting to ride on this bandwagon....
But think again is CO2 really that bad? Isn't CO2 the harmless gas that is used as the building element absorbed in the leaves of trees and turned into new molecular structures through the process of photosynthesis to build the trees that produce all the greens on our planet.
I remember from my youth working in a flower farm (greenhouse) that Jet engine look-alike blowers were used to burn kerosene....and the purpose besides heating in winter was to bring more CO2 inside the green house and make the plants grow faster. So CO2 is not so bad after all.....when concentrations are high it turns out to make plants and trees to grow faster.
If you research deeper into the issue of CO2 you will find a lot of controversy about if it really is causing the planet to warm or not. Al Gore Through his great documentary has done a perfect job bringing global warming to the world’s attention but in my view blaming most on the rise of CO2 levels is the weak point of the overall very good documentary film. Others have come up with documentaries trying to prove that the global temperatures are not rising because of CO2 but the opposite; that CO2 levels are rising because of global rising temperature due to changing activity of the sun. CO2 is stored in the oceans and when water temperature rises the CO2 is released…..that’s the story of the opposition…..
So summarized there are many stories that tell completely the opposite but all stories seem to be very plausible….so we can in fact only conclude that we know too little…..and that is in my view the best representation of all the evidence.
THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE JUST CAN CONTINUE WHAT WE DO!
Arguing about what the cause of global warming is; is like a group of fireman standing by a burning sky-scraper arguing about what started the fire….and all world news media zooming in at the fireman’s faces and spelling out their words in the papers without paying attention that the fire is in fact expanding further and further and finally bringing down the whole building.
We do not need to argue about what causes global warming; we only should start realizing that:
1) That we are in a huge energy crisis,
2) That the world’s population is largely energy illiterate making the crisis grow even bigger,
3) That destroying biodiversity and replacing it with single crop vegetation is bad for the ecosystem and soil
4) That Inhaling polluted air is not good for our health
5) That buying more and more of shorter and shorter life products is not making us happy
So what should we do:
1) In a crisis we should make up the balance sheet; after which we quickly learn that in fact we have no energy crisis at all! We do have a serious crisis when we keep on depending on fossil fuels that are only 42 ZJ left but if we start using sunlight of which we will receive 550.000 ZJ the coming 100 years and geothermal heat of 10.000 ZJ which can both be converted into the cleanest form of energy….Electricity with zero emissions than of course we see we have no energy crisis at all.
2) Introduce the Joule standard to bring transparency in energy world; and in that way eradicate energy illiteracy
3) Replant the lands that have been destroyed for biofuels and illegal logging...
4) So those new forests can grow fast because of high CO2 concentrations and exhale clean air for us to breathe.
5) And than make products that can last for generations and recycled according to the Cradle-to-Cradle concept instead of the Cradle-to-Grave concepts of today’s world. Think about a simple toy that your child is playing with; which has been a toy that his/her grandfather has been playing with when he was his or her age….that is a form of great happiness….
So please stop arguing about what causes global warming…..work on unlearning your burnivorous habits and adopt an electrivorous lifestyle and start buying products that are more expensive but can last for generations and are build according to the Cradle-to-Cradle concepts.
Success!
